Northampton Academy Excel Against Malcom Arnold!
The Academy hadn’t played before this match, but there is no way you could see that. Mrs Carter-Morris wanted a good performance, but she got so much more. Malcom Arnold Academy (MA) turned up looking smart but looks do not matter in netball.
MA won the coin toss and chose to start the match. However, it didn’t take long for Academy to win the ball from the opposition and they did really well after that. Academy’s passing was precise. MA did have their fair share of chances but neither side could score in the first quarter.
It was a similar situation in the second quarter but Academy kept getting closer to scoring. MA had one chance but it was stopped by Amabel who played a key part in the defence throughout the game.
In the third quarter, Academy finally broke through! It was a well worked team goal with Chelsea at the end of the move. She calmly hoisted the ball into the net. After that goal, MA never really looked like scoring until the last quarter.
The final quarter was a very fast paced game. MA were pushing for an equaliser but it was all for nothing as Chelsea found herself with the ball and once again, didn’t miss!
After the match, I interviewed Chelsea. I asked her how she felt after the scoring her first goal, and she said, “It felt amazing to score such an important goal for the team. We worked throughout the game and thankfully it paid off.” Her feelings about the second goal were slightly different: “It came as a shock to me but I’m glad it happened.”
