Extra Curriculum
Attending the Academy is only part of a students' learning and development. The Academy expects that all of their students will involve themselves in activities outside of the normal lesson structure.
Examples of suitable activities are as follows: Cadets, Scouts, Guides, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme; playing a musical instrument in a Band or Orchestra; Playing, coaching or officiating in any sporting event; Dance or Drama groups; Saturday or evening school; etc.
In order to support this philosophy the Academy will provide a programme of Extra-Curricular Activities which will take place at lunchtime and every evening after school at 3.30pm.
The Academy activities will include a plethora of sporting options. These will include clubs in every sport offered by the Academy plus competitive inter-School, House and Group fixtures. Music, Dance and Drama will feature strongly as will Chess, Cheerleading and Film Club. Other more academic activities such as Gifted and Talented Club, Reading Club and Homework Club will also play a major part in the Academy's total learning experience.
It is anticipated that all of the Academy students will take part in at least one extra-curricular activity per week, but we hope many will do more.
Visits, both in the UK and abroad, will feature regularly in Academy life giving students a unique opportunity to widen their experience and outlook.
