Learning Mentoring

How does mentoring work?

Students are referred through the Head of House or can self-refer through the “drop in” (either before or after school, or at break/lunchtime). Students will be supported on a 1:1 basis and occasionally in class. Support will include:

  • Protective Behaviours
  • Managing Emotions
  • Social Skills
  • Raising Self Esteem

Please see the diagram below.

Why has our child been referred to a Learning Mentor?

When problems arise in a student’s life, whether it be a home or school issue, it is often difficult for the teaching staff to devote individual time and attention to address these problems. Learning Mentors are in a position to provide this support to the student often complementing the role of the Family Support Counsellor, Mrs Annie Head.
