A Level Results 2009

Bravo-Raising the Bar-2009

 

At Northampton Academy in 2009 our A Level students have Raised the A Level Bar.

 

We have improved significantly on the 2008 results.


Congratulations to our students and and to all staff concerned. 

Results 2009:-


1)   
Our APS (Average Points Score) per entry is 195 (Boys 207.5 Girls 187).

 

In 2008 this was 173.1 and in 2007 it was 173. This means this year in every entry we have raised the bar by 2/3rd of a grade..

2)  Our  APS per student is 743.8.

 

In 2008 it was 713 and in 2007 it was 665. This is a significant improvement UP ONE WHOLE GRADE FROM LAST YEAR. 

3)    In 7 subjects out of the 16 offered, 40% or more candidates in each subject gained A and B grades.

 

These are:

BTech Sports, Maths, IT, Sociology, Psychology, Art and Design and Health and Social Care.

4)    We had 55 students in Year 13 this year. In 2008 it was 45.

 

5)     The % of entries gaining A level pass grades has improved significantly in 2009

 

       A-E    grades      95.1% (90.2%-2008)
    A+B   grades      37.9% (27%-2008)
    A        grades     19.7% (14%-2008)

 

To explain the points score:-

 
A = AQA A2 Equiv 270

B =                           240 

C=                            210

D=                            180

E=                            150

 

These successful results in academic and vocational subjects will enable our students to gain the college and university places which they have applied for.


Above, Left: Mumtaj gained three A levels with a B at ‘A’ level in ICT and is going to the University of Northampton to study Accounting and Finance.
Above, Right: Charlotte gained four A levels with a B at ‘A’ level in Art and is going to the University of Northampton to do an Art Foundation course.
Above: Courtney gained three A levels with a B at ‘A’ level in IT and is going to the University of Hull to study Geography.

Above, Left-Right: Ryan, Chris, Tom and Luke all gained three A grades in BTEC National Diploma in Sport. They are all going to the University of Brighton.
Ryan is going to study Sports Journalism and Chris, Tom and Luke are going to study Sports Studies.
Above: Sophie H gained two A’s at ‘A’ level in Psychology and Sociology and two B’s at ‘A’ level in English and ICT. She is going to Loughborough University to study English. Above: Sophie B is going to the University of Brighton to study English Literature and Sociology.
