Working at Northampton Academy
Northampton Academy is a local school serving its local community. A member of the United Learning Trust family of Academies, it has been an Academy since 2004. We are an improving school and an exciting, transformational and forward looking learning community where Every Child Matters and Every Adult Matters. Ofsted rated us satisfactory in May 2010.
Our aim is to bring out the best in everyone, whether student or staff. We are doing this by building on current strengths and capacity to improve both further and faster; and also by implementing new ideas and strategies which can improve outcomes for our students. Staff who have vision, imagination and a desire to make a difference for our student flourish and have many opportunities to develop professionally.
We are a true community school. Over 3,500 people per week, additional to students, access and enjoy sporting, leisure and learning activities. We have many vibrant partnerships which evidence a real impact on learning, achievement and inclusion.
The specialisms of the academy are Sport and Business & Enterprise and they represent two successful areas of school life, both in terms of access, inclusion, enjoyment in learning as well as, most importantly, success in learning.
We are the hub for School Sport Coordinator activities and the host for vocational training in Construction with the David Wilson Centre, with plans to extend this to Manufacturing and Product Design and Engineering from September 2011.
Cultural partnerships have been developed with the Royal college of Music, the Tate Modern and the Saatchi Galleries who have each provided curriculum opportunities for students and professional development opportunities for staff.
We look forward to applications from people who are highly committed, flexible and driven by achievement. Professional progress is possible for those who show they can bring about change and who play their part in moving us from good to great.
