Welcome to the Art Homepage!
Welcome to the Art Department of Northampton Academy. Our aim is to promote creativity in a stimulating and caring environment. We want all students to achieve. Our GCSE results reflect this, being consistently above the national average.
The program of study is both varied and integrated. By the time the student get to choose their options in year 8 they will have experienced printmaking, design and composition, ceramics, abstraction, 3D modelling, drawing and painting from observation and contextual analysis. With each year our students build their skills and knowledge with the aim of easing the transition from GCSE to A’ level and further education.
The Art Department is housed in four purpose-built art rooms with excellent facilities for the production of artwork. This includes provision for the use of ICT with computers and interactive white boards in all rooms.
We extend the learning of our Gifted and talented students with gallery visits, extended research homework’s, film workshops and (this coming year) visiting artists. Our close links with the Tate Modern also proved fruitful in providing gifted and talented students with valuable experiences in promoting their creativity.
