P.E. Curriculum at The Academy

The Academy prides itself on being able to offer a broad curriculum to pupils in P.E. as well as providing many extra-curricular clubs that enrich pupils' experiences of physical activity and sport.  We are dedicated to fostering a culture of physical activity as a habit for all pupils, thereby promoting long term healthy lifestyles for all.

The Academy views the health and safety of it's pupils as an absolute top priority and as such has been able to provide martial arts and self-defence courses for the pupils.  In the year 2006-07 all of the year 11's and 10's took a 6 week Karate class.  This year (2007-08) half of every year group were engaged in a 6 week Taekwon-Do and self-defence unit.

Any pupils that didn't get the opportunity this year will be participating in the same unit next academic year.

In addition to this there is a weekly extra curricular Taekwon-Do/self-defence class that is open to all pupils from year 7 to 13.
