Art Teacher

Maternity Cover, January - June 2009

Salary – Dependent on Experience

We are seeking to appoint an Art teacher for a five month period to cover maternity leave, to join this successful and popular department. This will be from the end of January 2009 until the end of June 2009.

The successful applicant will be required to teach half a timetable with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, with a requirement to also teach some A Level Art. Previous experience in teaching GCSE would therefore be desirable. Some time will be spent working with other members of the Art department to develop specific projects including, working with the Tate Modern Partnership, raising the profile of the department and engaging in lunchtime activities. Taking ownership of a tutor group and being responsible for one lesson of PSHE per week is also a requirement of this position.

Head of History and General Studies

Northampton Academy is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school that opened in September 2004 and specialises in Sport with Business and Enterprise. The Academy is situated in new buildings that boast world class ICT and sports facilities and it is using these to be at the forefront of educational innovation and delivery. Northampton Academy is an extremely popular and oversubscribed school.

We wish to appoint a highly motivated, well qualified teacher with the experience and enthusiasm to lead and develop these important subject areas. The post would involve the teaching of GCSE and A Level History, General Studies and the co-ordination of the new Extended Project at Key Stage 5. In addition, there would also be an opportunity to teach the Key Sage 3 competency based curriculum Opening Minds. The department forms part of the Global Citizenship core programme within the Academy.

    Literacy Teaching Assistant

    Salary: Dependent Upon Experience

    We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Literacy Teaching Assistant to work for two days a week (flexible hours). The post will be based in our Global Citizenship department to support the teaching of Literacy in the Humanities subjects.

    The successful applicant will enjoy working with young people and as part of a team, and will have previous experience of working in a school environment. It is essential to be ICT literate with good organisational skills. This position will be responsible to the Co-ordinator of Literacy.

    Learning Mentor

    33 Hours / 39 Weeks

    Salary: £14,268 (Actual)

    We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to work with students in overcoming their barriers to learning. You will need to relate well to young people, and be able to build a strong professional relationship in order to empower them to develop positive attitudes to learning. You will also be able to work as part of a team within the school and with external agencies. Full training will be provided for
    the ideal candidate.
