Links With The Community

The academy is actively involved in the community. Northampton Academy is a School, Leisure and Community site, and the facilities are extensively used by the local community in the evenings and at weekends.

The 'Partners in Learning Association' is made up of parents, teachers and other supporters of the academy. Their main focus will be on the development of learning, in particular the important partnership between the home and school. It also meets for social events.

Family Liaison

The role of the Family Liaison Worker was created by the Northampton Excellence Cluster to raise students' attainment through building positive relationships between the school and families.
It is a strong belief that if our young people are to achieve their full potential, we must engage their interest in learning. This is more achievable if families are supportive and actively involved in their child's learning. There may however be occasions or issues at home that are preventing young people from making the most of their time at school.

To ensure that students and their families have the best possible support, the Family Liaison Worker will meet with the family to identify their needs. The family may be offered practical support or simply a 'listening ear'.

Family Liason - aim of service

The aim of the service is to:

Establish close cooperation between schools and families.

To make families more aware of their child's achievements through sending positive messages home. Receiving good news as well as the not so good helps parents achieve a more balanced view of their child's progress.

To encourage families to be involved in the school. Involvement sends such an important message to the students.
