Academy Governance
The legal governing body for the Northampton Academy will be the United Learning Trust. The Trust will be the body ultimately responsible for the proper operation of the Academy.

The Articles of the United Learning Trust require it to create a Local Governing Body for the Northampton Academy and, as agreed with the DfES, also sets out the membership of the Local Governing Body. The maximum number of local governors is 15 of which 5 are prescribed. The prescribed membership is for:

• The Principal
• An elected parent
• An elected teacher
• An elected member of the support staff
• A representative of the Local Education Authority

It is planned that a majority of the remaining members of the Local Governing Body will come from within the local community. It is expected that the sponsors will hold places on the Local Governing Body of the Northampton Academy.
