For PE lessons, students should have non-marking trainers for indoor sport and either studs or blades for grass pitch sport. A towel is also required.

The wearing of appropriate Academy uniform is compulsory for all Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 students. It is part of the realistic preparation for adult life, as in most jobs there is either a uniform or a requirement to dress in a particular way.

Hairstyles should be sensible. Neither pattern cut, shaved, excessively coloured, nor other inappropriate styles is allowed. Eye makeup and coloured lipstick are not allowed.

One stud earring only is permitted in each earlobe. No other jewellery is permitted.

If outdoor coats/jackets are worn then these should be of an acceptable style. A plain dark coloured coat is recommended, denim jackets, camouflage jackets and similar are NOT acceptable. NO coats or jackets may be worn in the classroom. It is not acceptable to wear a sweatshirt or cardigan as a substitute for a proper outdoor coat. Hats are not to be worn on the Academy premises.

All your clothing should be marked with your name. Some youngsters can be remarkably careless with jackets/sports kits/pullovers, etc. and unless they are marked there is no chance of returning them to their rightful owners. All lost property ends up in the 'lost property' area but will only be held for two months before we dispose of it.

Wear your uniform with pride. It makes getting up easier! It cuts down on the clothes you need, keeping your favourite clothes for wearing out of Academy. It also tells people outside the Academy that you are a member of Northampton Academy.

Ties should be worn correctly with shirt top buttons being fastened.

If for any reason you are unable to wear full Academy uniform you should gain permission from your parents and Head of House to wear a suitable alternative. An explanatory letter from your parents/guardians, must be brought to the Academy on the day.
