Mental Health and Wellbeing Support for Young People

At Northampton Academy, we care deeply about the mental health and wellbeing of the young people who attend.

Life will always have ups and downs, and our young people need to learn to accept upsets and disappointments as a normal part of life.  However, when a young person is having a difficult time, we acknowledge they may need support.  We recognise that self-esteem is developed when someone feels good about themselves, listened to, and valued by others.  It has a direct link to how we relate to one another.

Here at Northampton Academy, we acknowledge that self-esteem is more vulnerable throughout a young person's life.  We understand the need for sensitivity around individual needs and recognise that physical and emotional health may affect young people's ability to interact with others.

We provide opportunities for our young people to discuss their feelings and experiences in a safe environment.  Then, together we agree on what needs to happen to make positive changes for our students, empowering them to feel more in control of their lives.
