Cadets Stand at Attention in Remembrance Parade at Northampton Academy

Categories: Latest Academy News, Featured

In Remembrance of our wartime heroes, students and staff across the whole of Northampton Academy fell silent for Armistice Day.

Cadets from LNR ACF (Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force) Anzio Detachment, led by Staff Sergeant Grimes, came to attention for a two-minute silence to show their respects to honour our war veterans. The silence ended with ‘The Last Post’ being played whilst the Cadets remained at attention.

Prior to the two-minute silence, the school heard a reading about Remembrance followed by the moving poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ which was broadcast to all across the tannoy system.

The Anzio Detachment Cadets meet at the Northampton Academy every Wednesday evening, inspiring young people to challenge their limits, become more independent, confident and able to step up to any challenge. Some activities have a military theme whilst others have more of a community focus. The Army Cadet Force is sponsored and supported by the Ministry of Defence.

Staff Sergeant Grimes said, “I am very proud of the Cadets who have demonstrated the school values of Respect, Determination and Ambition, which are also part of the ACF core values and beliefs”
