Women In Construction Event at Northampton College

Categories: Latest Academy News, Careers & Enterprise, Featured

In celebration of International Women's Day, a group of Year 10 girls were invited to Northampton College for an event designed to explore careers in the construction industry.

Often seen as an industry dominated by men, many female students don’t aspire for the wide range of roles available in this sector.

Northampton College invited a panel of inspiring women, with successful careers in construction, to share their experiences of their challenging and fulfilling roles. Female engineers, HR specialists, surveyors, site managers and gas engineers were among those who shared their journeys with our students.

Following this, students were able to try their hand at a variety of skilled tasks, which included carpentry, brickwork, surveying and theatre/interior design effects.

We thank the team at Northampton College for inviting our students to explore this industry as part of their careers education.
