Categories: Latest Academy News, Featured

We have been celebrating A Level successes today with three students achieving 3 A*s in their results -  a first for the Academy - and many others going on to their first choice of universities.

High achievers included:

  • Grace who was awarded A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry and an A in Physics. She has accepted a place at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge to read Chemical Engineering;
  • Ayotunde, the Academy’s Head Boy, who received A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Physics and an A in Chemistry. He is going to study Physics at University College, London;
  • Petra who was awarded A*s in English, Spanish and Portugese and a B in Psychology. She will go to the University of Nottingham to read Spanish and International Media Communication;
  • Georgia who achieved an A* in Biology and A’s in Maths and Chemistry. She will study Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham.

Congratulating the students, Mr Parnell said:

“Each year our Sixth Form grows in strength as our students become even more ambitious for their futures. It is a genuine pleasure to see students achieve their very best and be able to take up places at the most prestigious universities.

“It is particularly pleasing to see both boys and girls perform strongly in Maths and the Sciences and being accepted on some of the toughest degree courses. It is a testament to their hard work and to the support and encouragement of their parents and our staff that they achieved these results”.

Grace said, "I’m really amazed by my results and I’m so thankful to be going to one of the best Universities in the country for my course, Chemical Engineering. I couldn’t have achieved this without my awesome Maths and Chemistry teachers, who are always available to give me valuable support and encouragement, which gave me the determination to work hard and exceed my own expectations. My parents have always been supportive and backed me and I really wanted to make them proud. I am over the moon!"
