Accelerated Reader

Northampton Academy library is part of the Rennaisance Accelerated Reader scheme, encourging and motivating student's to enjoy reading. This scheme is mainly used in year 7 and 8, but we also have some year 9 and 10 student's taking part. A student reads a book, aimed at their reading level, they then take an online quiz, which will give immediate feedback with a percentage score. Each book has it's own points value. If a score of 100% is reached the student will receive a small reward. The tutor group with the highest score over the term will get rewarded with a popcorn and movie lesson, and the highest performing group over the year will win a Dominoes pizza party!

When a student has read one million words, he or she becomes an Accelerated Reader millionaire. In addition to a certificate they will get a ticket into the prize draw, with a chance to win a laptop or an Amazon Kindle Fire!

Our students enjoy taking part in Accelerated reader and they are motivated to make progress with their reading skills. Who will be our next Accelerted Reader multi-millionaire?
