Spotlight Performing Arts Academy
We are very excited to introduce our Spotlight Performing Arts Academy. This brand-new programme welcomed its first cohort in September 2024. The unique Spotlight Performing Arts Academy focuses on developing the passions and interests of students within all strands of Performing Arts, namely Music, Dance and Drama.
This programme is not just about the performers - it will also suit aspiring directors, managers, choreographers, composers, set designers and costume designers.
In addition to the newly renovated dedicated Performing Arts area, which boasts two drama studios, a Mac Suite, Practice Rooms and Recording Studios, a Dance Studio and our new Amphitheatre!
All Key Stage 3 students at Northampton Academy receive Music, Dance and Drama lessons as part of their curriculum; however, as a member of Spotlight, they will receive further opportunities through an extended day with extra-curricular opportunities in all aspects of these subjects, which will also include exciting projects with the Royal Shakespeare Company and its representatives and visiting guest speakers.
All Spotlight Academy students will work towards an Arts Award qualification during their journey through school, one at each Key Stage. This qualification will aid them in developing their knowledge and understanding of their chosen art form and build essential skills for success in 21st-century life.
We expect all Spotlight Performing Arts students to participate in extra-curricular classes after school until 4.30 pm at least three times a week.
