Resources

All students can access the library for FREE! Students can borrow up to two books for up to four weeks. They can renew their books twice and the first renewal can be done online from home.

The fiction books in our library are split into 8 zones based on their genre to make it easier for students to navigate our library. These are Adventure, Speculative, Nature, Horror, Community, Romance, Historical, and Classics.

Our most popular section are our Manga books. We also have other comic books and graphic novels, as well as recently popular verse novels.

Our non-fiction books are split into subjects and colour coded. Our Information Station offers resources about project management and research skills.

On-line Resources

Our library website is uk.accessit.online/nrt46

Students can use the great AccessIt software to search our book catalogue, reserve books they want to read, review books they’ve read and engage with the reading lists and visual search for easier searching. Students can log in using their school details.

If you are on Instagram you can follow the library @northacadlib. We post reading inspiration, display pictures, events announcements and much more.

Library Leaders

We have a dedicated team of student Library Leaders undergoing a School Library Association training programme, helping behind the library desk and with variety of book tasks, including events, displays and our Tutor Reading programme. We recruit new Library Leaders from Year 7 and 8 and many of them stay with us until 6th Form and learn many transferable skills including leadership, teamwork and time management. On their way through the training programme, they are expected to carry out a library project and learn invaluable project management skills. Many of our Library Leaders successfully apply to higher leadership positions in our school.
