A Level Results Celebrations

Students at Northampton Academy are celebrating today after receiving another strong set of results at A Level and in vocational courses.  

At the academy’s Sixth Form, 33% of A Level entries achieved A* to B grades and 63% achieved A* to C grades, with an overall pass rate of 99%. Students achieved particularly well in Maths with 29% of entries being awarded the top A* grade and 56% being awarded A* to B grades. As well as this 68% of entries in Further Maths achieved A* to A grades. 

Alongside the academy’s successful overall performance, there were a number of impressive individual results and university destinations. These included Kieran Mason, who achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths and an A in Physics, and is going on to study Maths at the University of Warwick, Catalina Creanga achieved two A* in Maths and Further Maths and an A in Chemistry will go to Imperial College London to read Chemical Engineering, whilst namesake Caltalina Agachi who achieved and A* in Maths and two As in Further Maths and Computer Science will continue to study the latter at UCL.

Other students enjoying success included:

  • Patricia Vulc, who achieved an A* in Maths and 2 As in Further Maths and Physics, and is going on to study Theoretical Physics at the University of Manchester;
  • Norbert Gawrysiak, who achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths and a B in Physics, and is going on to study Maths at university; 
  • Isabelle Hannon-Thompson, who achieved an A* in English, an A in Psychology and a B in Sociology, and is going on to study Psychology at the University of  Birmingham;
  • Tobi Sorunke achieved A* Maths, A in Further Maths and a B in Physics is also heading to the University of Birmingham to read Maths;
  • Twins Leila and Leilani Willis; Leila achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths and an A in Physics, and is going on to study Maths and Physics, whilst Leilani achieved an A* in English, an A in Spanish and a B in Maths, and is going on to study Hispanic Studies and Italian.

Vocational courses also saw strong performances from students, including Mark Zydonik, who achieved a Double Distinction* in National Extended BTEC Sport, and is going on to study Primary Education at University of Northampton;

Kieran Mason said:

“The teachers here are great! Massive thank you to Mr Dunkley for everything he has done for me and for the school. I never expected to get these results and I am looking forward to starting my studies at the University of Warwick.”

Tobi Sorunke said:
“I am extremely grateful to all my teachers for their support throughout my Sixth Form experience. Shout out to maths teachers for giving up their time to help me achieve these grades.

Patricia Vulc said:
I’m relieved to  finally have my results after a seemingly endless wait. The teachers here were massively helpful, I’m especially thankful to Mr Dunkley wh offered me support the whole way; despite his workload”

Catalina Agachi said:
“I feel like all my hard work has paid off, I’m really happy with my achievements, I couldn’t have done it without the support of the staff, especially Mr Dunkley”

Mr Parnell congratulated the students:
“Congratulations to all of our Sixth Formers for achieving an impressive set of results across the board. It is fantastic to see our students’ hard work and dedication over the past two years come to fruition, with many securing the university places of their choice, including at top Russell Group institutions.

“I would also like to thank our excellent staff team for giving our young people the guidance, encouragement and challenge they need to thrive. This has ensured that, once again, our Sixth Formers are gaining the grades they need to meet their ambitions. We wish all of our young people the best of luck as they go on to take their places at university, begin apprenticeships or enter the world of work.”
