Afternoon Tea Coronation Celebrations

Categories: Latest Academy News, Featured

On Friday, 5th May 2023, Northampton Academy joined in with the King Charles III celebrations.

The day began with our very own 'Royals' in the form of Mr Queally, Mrs Buckley and Princess Lily greeting students, parents and carers in the car park; they always put a smile on people's faces!

During tutor time, students received an assembly from Mr Anderson about the coronation, its history, and how we can take this opportunity to bring people together in alignment with the school mantra, 'Our differences unite us'. All students and staff will receive a commemorative bookmark.

Our Parent Ambassador group arranged for students to receive afternoon tea bites during lunchtime whilst the 'King and Queen' were present, posing for photos with students in the Courtyard.

The main event of the day, with the help of our fantastic Parent Ambassadors, came after school when 29 guests joined us for afternoon tea in the hall. On the guest list were residents from Abington Lodge, Elizabeth House, and the parents of staff members. They joined together to celebrate with our resident royals, enjoying live music from Meshack and Nikolas and watching dance from our champion baton twirler Remaya, whilst Parent Ambassadors and staff served up the afternoon tea.

The event ended with some singing, followed by the National Anthem. Our guests had a great time and complimented our young musicians, our dancer and the delicious food.

The manager at Abington Lodge said:

"Our residents loved this afternoon. They were on a high. They sang in the minibus on the way home and went into the lodge to carry on their party. The food was amazing."

We would like to thank all those involved in the planning of this event and our guests for joining us. We hope this will be the first of many events like this as part of our community matters programme.
