Mr Lyon's Fundraiser

Categories: Latest Academy News, Featured

Mr Lyon is fundraising for Sarcoma UK in honour of his friend, Ryan, who recently passed away after battling the illness. Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer which affects the bone and soft tissue. Mr Lyon and six of Ryan's closest friends will be running the London Marathon and attempting to raise £16,800 as a team.

Dressed in his 'neon workout gear' and with his hair dyed pink, Mr Lyon hosted a teacher karaoke concert during lunchtime of the final day of term, having spent the final two weeks of term fundraising for this cause, which is very close to his heart.

Students were invited to donate in return for a voting slip where they could decide on Mr Lyon's hair colour and the fancy dress costume for the final week, and there were runaway winners in both categories.

Mr Lyon was joined on stage by several staff members, but the most notable performance has to have been his duet of The Proclaimers - (I'm gonna be) 500 Miles, which was greatly received by the adoring audience!

Through his fundraising in school, the staff and students of Northampton Academy donated £279.76. Mr Lyon would like to thank everybody for their donations.
