On Thursday, 24th November, Northampton Academy hosted our annual Year 5 Multisport Festival on the rubber crumb. The Northampton Academy Sports Leaders had utilised a twilight training session to collaborate, designing session plans in Rugby, Handball, Fitness, Team Building and Cricket skills to deliver on the day.
When the day arrived, after multiple days of rain, we were delighted to be blessed with a dry day. Over the course of the day, we welcomed over 250 Year 5 Students from across eight local primary schools. The students enjoyed five sessions led by the fantastic team of Northampton Academy Sports Leaders, with a focus on participation, enjoyment and teamwork. The leaders also looked out for ‘Character’ stars across the festival, and these students were awarded certificates for demonstrating our Academy character values.
The event was a huge success, largely due to the excellent planning, organisation and delivery demonstrated by the Sports Leaders, many of whom were new to the team and leading at a festival for the first time. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and development through the further leadership opportunities they have over this term and the next.
