Sixth Form Applications September 2020 - Conditional Offers

Dear all applicants,

Your centre-assessed grades will be delivered via the MyEd application between 8am-12pm on Thursday 20th August. Due to the current local increase of COVID-19 cases we are mitigating any risk ahead of our reopening in September and will be limiting the number of students on site. We are, therefore, requesting that students only attend the school on that day if they need to meet with a key member of staff for the following reasons:

  • You have applied or would like to apply to our Sixth Form,
  • You are unsure of your next steps and want careers advice,
  • You are looking for wellbeing support following the recent events (wellbeing team will be available).

All other students should stay home. For those students who will be coming onto site, please arrive at student reception from 8am where paper copies will be available if you are unable to access the, via the MyEd application. Social distancing and hygiene measures will be in place and we are asking that no parents/carers come on to site.

We are requesting that all external candidates do not come to the tomorrow during GCSE results day. We are following guidance from Public Health to limit external visitors onto site at this time.

Please can you complete the process via Admissions+ if you are still interested in taking up a place and upload a copy of your results. A member of the Sixth Form team will be in contact with you to discuss your application.

An Academic Sixth Form of Character

We are very proud of our flourishing Sixth Form which year-on-year, has seen excellent results and students moving on to top universities or highly skilled apprenticeships.

Northampton Academy offers over 25 courses with strong provision and results in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). This year we are proud to launch our Nucleus VI programme for aspiring medical students.

We expect students to progress from advanced study to university and we provide a tailored programme of support to help them. Specialist support is provided for students to apply to Oxbridge and for preparation for subject specific entrance examinations for Russell Group Universities, where our past students have been very successful.

The Sixth Form students are supported with personal tutors, UCAS guidance and mentoring from businesses such as Barclaycard. They also have access to a first-class enrichment and careers programme along with the opportunity to work with employers and also mentor younger students. Year 12 students complete work experience, further enhancing their skills and experience for higher education or the workplace. The full range of options is explored to focus on the best interest of the individual student, including apprenticeships, vocational courses, employment with training and A Levels.

The Motto of the Academy is ‘The Best in Everyone’, and we work hard with all of our students to enable them to achieve their full potential in accordance with the Academy values of Respect, Determination and Ambition. In return, we expect hard work and commitment from our students throughout their time in the Sixth Form.
