An Academic Sixth Form of Character

We are very proud of our flourishing Sixth Form which year-on-year, has seen excellent results and students moving on to top universities or highly skilled apprenticeships.

Northampton Academy offers a wide range of A Levels and BTEC courses with strong provision and results in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). We are very proud of our Nucleus VI Programme for Aspiring Medics students and our Nucleus VI Programme for Aspiring Engineers.

We expect students to progress from advanced study to university and we provide a tailored programme of support to help them. Specialist support is provided for students to apply to Oxbridge and for preparation for subject specific entrance examinations for Russell Group Universities, where our past students have been very successful.

Our Sixth Form students are supported with personal tutors, UCAS guidance and mentoring from businesses such as Barclaycard. They also have access to a first-class enrichment and careers programme along with the opportunity to work with employers and mentor younger students.

Year 12 students complete a work placement, further enhancing their skills and experience for higher education or the workplace. Academic and vocational options are explored to enable students to make informed decisions regarding their next steps including apprenticeships, vocational courses, employment with training and A Levels.

The Motto of the Academy is ‘The Best in Everyone’, and we are 'high challenge, high support' working hard with all of our students to enable them to achieve their full potential in accordance with the Academy values of Respect, Determination, Ambition, Tolerance and Integrity. In return, we expect hard work and commitment from our students throughout their time in the Sixth Form.
