On Thursday, Matt Salmons, Social Media Manager for Northampton Town FC, visited NA to deliver an engaging workshop.
Matt provided valuable insight into his career so far, sharing his experiences and the path that led him to his current role.
Students from Years 7–10 in the Elite Sport Programme attended the session, where they learned about his journey—from playing football in his early years and supporting Northampton Town, to achieving his GCSEs and A Levels, and progressing to university. He also shared his experiences of completing his degree while gaining valuable work experience with two professional football clubs.
Matt then took the opportunity to brief the students on the benefits and dangers of social media, sharing valuable insights and allowing the students to collaborate and engage as a group to share best practices for ways to safely navigate social media.
His take-away message was a firm reminder of the need for always showing true NA values (determination, respect, integrity) throughout your life ... "Earn your career ... don't expect it to happen".
