I joined the Library team in Year 12 as a new student with the passion and motivation to help out when needed and to surround myself in the world of books. As one of the first Library Ambassadors at Northampton Academy, I am most grateful for the opportunity to develop my love for books as well as serve the community that I am part of.
The Library became a part of my building block to success. I could go there when I was stressed, happy, sad – no matter how I felt – It was always accessible. The Librarian, the Assistant Librarian, and the entire team were more than welcoming to everyone. It was the best place to be at all times. I got advice and support each time I needed it.
One of my greatest achievements is being the first to win the Community Award in school, and that would have been impossible without the Library. I was always getting praise points for being there, carrying out duties, getting engaged with clubs and the events we planned together, of which one is 'Val’s Love' for our Valentine’s Day celebration. The Library has been my foothold for the successes I achieved today.
Being the only Year 13 student helping in the Library built my passion for merging the Sixth Form and lower year groups, which, to some extent, was achieved by employing new Year 12 students to take over from me when I finished. This has been one of the biggest projects I have achieved, not only was I able to fulfil this dream, I was able to learn skills that prepared me for university – the next level of my life – and I am grateful for it because I cannot list all the benefits I have gained from the Library.
The Library was my platform to leave behind a legacy that I will forever sing about and be proud of.
