I began my career in teaching in 2022 after joining the school as a Learning Support Assistant. I was pleased to be offered an opportunity to train as a drama teacher within the school. My year as a Learning Support Assistant helped me with this, as I already knew the school, the staff and the systems in place.

Through United Teaching, I completed a week at summer school in Manchester. My professional mentor, subject mentor and visiting professional mentor supported me throughout my training year. Completing this experience with other training teachers in different subjects has enabled me to share my experiences and use them as support throughout the year. Participating in a three-week placement in another school showed me the differences in the daily school activities. It enabled me to take valuable skills back to Northampton Academy.

Training through United Teaching has been an invaluable experience for me, and I am excited to continue my journey as a teacher at Northampton Academy after completing my training year.
