We are proud to announce that a group of our students have successfully completed the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, demonstrating determination, resilience, and a wide range of skills throughout the program.
To earn this prestigious award, students completed four key sections: Physical Recreation, Skills, Volunteering, and an Expedition. Each section required dedication over several months, with participants averaging one hour per week for three months in most areas, and one section extended to six months.
Physical Recreation
Students embraced a variety of activities to improve their fitness and wellbeing. Many chose individual or team sports such as Netball, Kickboxing, Karate, and Running, while others focused on personal fitness goals through gym sessions and walking programs.
Skills Development
Creativity and learning were at the heart of this section. Students explored new talents and honed existing ones through activities like art, cooking, music, and performing arts, showcasing their versatility and enthusiasm for personal growth.
Volunteering
Giving back to the community was a key part of the award. Students contributed through litter picking, supporting local charities, coaching younger sports teams, becoming library leaders, and even assisting with the logistics of the award itself by checking equipment and preparing materials.
The Expedition
The final challenge tested teamwork and endurance. After thorough training, students embarked on a two-day hike, carrying all their equipment and navigating routes between Salcey Forest and the Quarries campsite. They camped overnight, cooked their own meals, and returned via a different route, an experience that built confidence and camaraderie.
This achievement reflects the students’ determination and the support of staff and families. Congratulations to all participants for completing this incredible journey!
