Yesterday, students from 7S, 8S, and 9S took part in an engaging, hands-on engineering workshop delivered by three visiting professionals from RED Engineering, including an electrical engineer and a mechanical engineer.
The team introduced students to the world of engineering—explaining what engineering is, what it involves, and the diverse range of roles within an engineering company. They also outlined different pathways into engineering as a career and emphasised the essential role of problem-solving and creative thinking skills for every engineer. Their enthusiasm and passion for the industry were truly inspiring.
Students also learned about data centres, gaining insight into what they are, why they matter, and how vital they are to everyday life—from streaming and online gaming to cloud storage and communication.
To bring engineering principles to life, the workshop included a hands-on activity where students built their own air cannons and explored the science behind how they work. This practical challenge helped reinforce the ideas of design, testing, and iteration in a fun and memorable way.
Overall, the visit from RED Engineering was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn, experiment, and be inspired by professionals shaping the technologies of the future.
