Band of Brothers

Categories: Sport

It was an amazing day to go onto the fields and enjoy a game of football in the mellow sunshine.

The Northampton Academy team were raging with determination to win the game and make their school proud. Northampton stood steady in their positions. The pre-match silence was torn apart by the resonance of the whistle. The game began and Duston immediately created a chance to score a goal. And with some force, Duston successfully opened the scoring. However Northampton didn't seem to mind, because they knew the game had only just began
and they were going to prove themselves.

Northampton almost equalised, but the ball hit the post and missed just by an inch. Duston were repeatedly attempting to increase their lead, however, because of the skilled defence of Northampton, they failed regularly. Both teams tried to score, but neither would let the opposition pass through.

The weather seemed too slowly dim and a light breeze began to touch the skin and make everyone slightly shiver on the pitch.

As the weather changed its mood Duston, slowly approached Northampton’s goal and struck the ball into the net. They then increased their lead to 3-0, and every goal for Duston seemed to edge Northampton closer to losing. Therefore, the half-time whistle blew at the right time to take a break and reflect back on all the negative and positive moments so far in the game. After a quick chat with the players, the coach asked them to return back on to the pitch and remember what they had just spoken about. Keeping that in mind, the players returned to the pitch and the second half began.

The Northampton Academy looked more motivated and dedicated to be the winning team. Finally, after many attempts Northampton scored their first goal and they are all blooming with happiness. After this success, the team used many techniques to reach the opposition’s goal and shoot, however in between all this a Northampton player accidently get hit on the head by a Duston player’s foot. The referee refused to give the Duston player a card but that didn’t stop the team from being dedicated. In fact, straight after the incident, Northampton scored another goal. At this point in the game it was 3 to Duston and 2 to Northampton. The Northampton team seemed to be on fire with another shoot finding the net, making a tie between both teams. Northampton obviously improved from half-time and have also improved on their techniques. And most of all, they were now communicating, making it easier for player to understand what the next move might be. There was only about a few minutes left until the end of the game and Northampton tried their best to get the final goal which would lead to them becoming the winning team.

A Northampton shot ever so slightly missed, however they tried again and they are successful second time round. This was the goal that put the Academy into the lead and also when the sound of the whistle echoed around the whole field, and with that the noise of Northampton Academy team roaring with excitement.

The Northampton Academy won this match fair and square and made the school incredibly proud.
