Our ‘Character At Home’ programme
Following the Government’s decision to close schools in England from Monday 23rd March, Northampton Academy is taking the opportunity to continue to develop students’ character whilst you are away from school.
This is an opportunity for you to put all the values that you have been learning about in the last three years to practice and show your families what a well-rounded young person you are developing into. We will continue to deliver our programme and ask that you and your parents/carers engage in the offer.
It is argued that Character Education is not only ‘caught’ through the ethos and values of the school but can also be ‘taught’ through explicit lessons, assemblies and form time. As an Academy we also try to develop the ‘sought’ aspect, where students actively seek to develop their own character. This extraordinary situation we find ourselves in allows this to happen.
Parents play a crucial role within the process. We want parents/carers to actively encourage their child to engage and then reinforce these character values at home.
