This is the second year we have hosted the 'Women in Tech' to increase the number of Year 9 females choosing Computer Science at the GCSE level and beyond and engage and educate them about different career paths involving technology.

Dressed in his 'neon workout gear' and with his hair dyed pink, Mr Lyon hosted a teacher karaoke concert during lunchtime of the final day of term, having spent the final two weeks of term fundraising Sarcoma UK, a cause which is very close to his heart.

Year 8 STEM Silverstone Museum Visit

The day started with Year 8 STEM waiting in the school cafeteria, where Mrs Staff divided the large group into two, so we could separate ourselves for the minibus. When we sat down on the minibus, we smoothly made our way up to Silverstone - the trip took 30 minutes. We stayed in our groups and experienced two different activities when we arrived.

Sixth Form students presented a STEM lecture based on their recent EPQ project about artificial intelligence. The students talked about the developments of AI since 2010 and its presence in microeconomics and healthcare, as well as AI’s application within healthcare.

On Thursday, 24th November, Northampton Academy hosted our annual Year 5 Multisport Festival on the rubber crumb. The Northampton Academy Sports Leaders had utilised a twilight training session to collaborate, designing session plans in Rugby, Handball, Fitness, Team Building and Cricket skills to deliver on the day.

New School Library Opens to Students and Staff

After months of planning, building and preparation, this week saw the grand opening of our newly refurbished School Library. The library has been moved from the top floor to allow extra space for our growing Sixth Form to a more central location in the school. The new Library can be found in G Block and has bi-fold doors into the Courtyard, which students can access during opening times.

Academy Falls Silent in Remembrance

Today students and staff across the whole of Northampton Academy fell silent for Armistice Day. 

Led by Sergeant Major Grimes, Cadets from LNR ACF (Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force) Anzio Detachment came to attention in the courtyard to show their respects in Remembrance of our war heroes. This was live-streamed into classrooms for all students to join them in their remembrance.

Northampton Academy Students Attend Specialist Training to Tackle Bullying with The Diana Award

In October, eight Northampton Academy students took part in a one-day anti-bullying training session run by The Diana Award at another United Learning school, Kettering Buccleuch Academy. The young people worked alongside students from Kettering Buccleuch and other schools to acquire vital skills which will enable them to change the attitudes and behaviours of bullying at school, therefore building their skills and confidence to address different situations, both online and off.
